The year 2010 has well and truly begun and the Kids Recycle-Works sale is just around the corner. Over the last two years we have experimented with different types of sales at different venues and times throughout the year, it has been an interesting venture but with limited success. This year there will be just two sales, in March and October respectively, both at East Burwood Hall and selling anything that can be used by kids or for kids. (look under Sale Dates for details).

2008 was a very busy and interesting year for Kids Recycle-Works, it was the first time ever that we have coordinated 4 sales and utilised 3 different venues in one year.  

After much angst, we found a venue for the April sale and were so pleased to be able to host a sale in Jaycees Hall in Nunawading. This was the first time since moving from my garage in 2003 that we had had to use a venue other than  East Burwood Hall so lots of additional planning went into the layout and set up of the sale. We were very pleased to have the assistance of “Foster & Co.” who put up two huge signs to promote the sale, which no doubt added to our success and we commissioned 18m of new warehouse shelving which helped considerably in effectively displaying items for sale. The April sale went well even though we found that the venue turned out to be too small for our sales so I was extremely pleased to find out that the permanent bookings which forced us out of East Burwood Hall had been cancelled and we were once again able to book there for KRW sales.

To help keep up with demand and increase our profile for both buyers and sellers KRW introduced two new sales in 2008 - the MEGA Clothing sale on June 21st and the Baby Needs, Kids Furniture and Toy Sale on July 26th.  Although these sales differed from the usual sale in that they targeted specific items they basically kept the same format.

The venue for the MEGA Clothing Sale was Waverley Salvation Army and all who attended were impressed with the whole concept - the layout, the venue and the quality of goods for sale all received high praise. Separating the boys and girls clothing was definitely a bonus and it was fantastic to be able to spread everything out on the racks and categorise items for a positive and unique shopping experience. The positive reaction to this sale prompted me to confirm a booking at the same venue for the MEGA Clothing Sale 2009 on May 30th 2009.

The KRW toy sale on July 26^th was held, once again, at East Burwood Hall. We used our warehouse shelving for the second time and were very pleased with the result. Although the layout and format of the sale met with a positive reaction attendance was low (possibly due to the midyear sales in retail stores) so we will not be doing this sale again.

In October 2008 we had the final sale for the year which was very well attended, we had a Lucky Shopper Competition, "Take a break on Us!" and awarded our 5 winners a Coffee Club Voucher. We added several components to our warehouse shelving increasing capacity to 22m and using our experience from the July sale we created a very effective and impressive layout with some new signage. We used our experience from the MEGA Clothing sale to improve the layout of the clothing and designed a layout sorted by gender and were able to assist customers by adding correct sizing to the hangers.

The new developments implemented 2007, which included this KRW web site, booking in, donating unsold goods, Trading Board for businesses, strict opening time, altered drop off arrangements, clearance on Saturday and member guarantees have had continued success and will remain as part of KRW sales.

The March 2010 sale at East Burwood Hall will be open to the public on Friday 12th from 4:00-10:00pm and Saturday 13th from 9:00am-4:00pm. There will be 1000's of items available ranging from clothing to toys to books.....literally anything that can be used for or by kids. Credit/eftpos facilities will be available and you should look out for those Member Guarantees on items such as Videos,CD's and electronic toys, these items are guaranteed to be in the condition stated or you may return the item within 7 days for a full refund.
