History of KRC /
KRW
I
have been coordinating KRC sale since 1997 when I was convinced there
must be a better way to sell my own second hand kids stuff than to take
it to the local "recycle" shop. Although very pleased with my purchases
I was disappointed when I discovered that the seller received less than
50% of the sale price. So, I started KRC, we had a small sale in
my lounge room with 8 of my friends and sold a grand total of $250.
In
March 1998 we had a 2nd sale and more than doubled our sales
figures. Later that year I moved house and in October had the first of
11 sales in my garage. Each March and October we had 7-10 day sales,
each became larger than the last until October 2003. On opening day you
could not park within three streets of my house but unfortunately our
success was our downfall, there were community complaints and the
council shut us down.
In
March 2004 we held our first full sale at the East Burwood Hall and it
went very well, the October sale was even better.
In October 2005, the Kids Recycle Club sales were
registered under the business name Kids Recycle-Works.
Over
the last 13 years our sales have grown and evolved, we've trialled
different venues and various formats and many sellers have come and
gone as their children have grown. In
2010 KRW will be coordinating our 29th & 30th
sales; currently a
sale may involve up to 80 members with 6,000 items selling in
excess of $16,000 worth of goods.
